Description Robert Half has partnered with an esteemed organization to find a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you'll be in communication with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, participating in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The organization offering this multi-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity is based in the Des Moines, Iowa region, and provides a terrific work environment where effort is rewarded.Your responsibilities
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Requirements
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Non-profit fund accounting experience
Deep understanding of month end closings
Command of Accounts Payable (AP)
Proficient in ERP systems
Vow to meet business deadlines
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
