Description Our client, a very highly recognized organization in their sector is hiring a Grant Accountant for a challenging and rewarding position. The successful candidate must possess the skills to manage change as the grants often vary month-to-month. You need to be able to detect when changes occur and be comfortable adapting accordingly. An understanding of accrual accounting is crucial, along with the ability to maintain multiple journal entries across our three different entities. The Grant Accountant role involves significant use of Excel, creating and updating pivot tables, and generating individual financial reports for every grant on a monthly basis. This complex role also requires understanding how to allocate resources from five different sources that fund a single project, and constantly improving processes rather than just following previous protocols. You should be capable of thinking about ending and commencing grants, recognizing changing grant cycles, and managing deferred revenue, all while maintaining an eye for detail. Essential to this role is the ability to read a financial statement and spot issues such as a negative balance. Duties will also encompass various types of reconciliations that contribute to the closing process, and the capacity to view the larger financial picture. The ability to work independently, follow SOPs and ask enlightening questions, not redundant ones, is a necessity. Previous experience in reconciliations, preparing journal entries, full cycle close and skillful navigation of Excel are also prerequisites for this role along with a BS in Accounting.Be a part of a collaborative team the believes that leadership is not a position - its who you are. This organization celebrates their people, they have open communication, company wide meetings and trainings.
