An Electrician in the Residential division of Baker Electric, Inc. - Des Moines, IA, will be responsible for install or repairing existing electrical systems within homes or multiple dwelling buildings. This could include partnering with general contractors on new residences or being sent out to individual residences for repair and service. Must be willing to join IBEW Local Union 347.Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Install, repair, maintain and test residential electrical systems in full support of Baker Electric’s safety and operational objectives
Use power and hand tools to install residential power and lighting systems including single family and multifamily occupancies.
Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and work with team to determine needs and materials
Schedule jobs according to materials, job lists and customer expectations
Travel to various project sites to resolve issues or develop a deeper understanding of the project and any issues at the point of installation
Maintain confidentiality of work and any Baker Electric project knowledge
Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to Project Managers or company leaders with recommendation for resolution
Other related duties as assigned

5+ years’ related experience; Preferred licensed electrician
High School diploma or GED required
Completed a DOL/BAT apprenticeship program
Valid driver’s license
Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills)
Ability to install power systems, lighting, fire detection, security and data
Experience finding and repairing faults in electrical apparatus and circuits
Ability to verify compliance and functionality of installations
Experience helping with the management of a project and crew
Ability to manage material estimates
