Job DescriptionThe State of Iowa, Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking a dynamic and experiencedETL Developerto join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining efficient Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into a standardized format, and load it into our Enterprise Data Warehouse. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.Key Responsibilities:

Extract data from diverse sources, including databases, flat files, APIs, and external systems, ensuring efficiency and minimal impact on source systems.

Cleanse, validate, and transform data to maintain accuracy and consistency, while meeting business requirements.

Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes, workflows, and data pipelines using tools like Informatica or programming languages such as SQL and Python.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to design data models that support ETL processes and strategic goals specific to Workforce development.

Implement data validation and quality checks to identify and resolve data issues, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

Monitor ETL jobs for failures or anomalies, troubleshoot issues promptly, and develop alerting mechanisms for failures or data quality problems.

Address performance bottlenecks in ETL processes and optimize SQL queries, data transformations, and workflows for efficiency.

Ensure ETL processes adhere to data security and compliance standards, including data privacy regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.

Plan for scalability as data volumes grow and perform routine maintenance and updates to ETL workflows and systems.

Maintain thorough documentation of ETL processes, data mappings, and transformations for troubleshooting and auditing purposes.

Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and align ETL processes with overall architecture and infrastructure.

Prepare and present metrics to senior leadership on different aspects of the ETL process and data quality.
