Job DescriptionThe Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Health Professions Investigator working within the within the Professional Licensing Division. Who We Are DIAL is a multifaceted regulatory agency charged with protecting the health, safety, and welfare of Iowans through facility inspections, professional licensing and regulation. This Health Professions Investigator position will be responsible for investigations and complaints filed regarding the 23 Health Profession Boards and 7 Non-Health Profession Boards within the Professional Licensing Division. At DIAL, our mission is to Achieve Compliance through Education, Regulation, and Due Process for a Safe and Healthy Iowa. To accomplish our mission, the individual selected for this position will provide regulatory oversight to healthcare providers ranging from Chiropractors to Barbers, in a professional, courteous, and objective manner. What We're Seeking The successful candidate for this position will have strong communication skills, clear and concise writing skills, and the ability to work independently. This position is well suited for a self-starter who can successfully manage multiple ongoing investigations. Desired qualifications include:

Experience gathering and or presenting facts and evidence
Ability to work with other state regulatory boards and agencies, prosecuting attorneys, and law enforcement
Experience conducting multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting case submission requirements
Flexibility of work environment, which may include traveling statewide to inspect businesses or interview licensees, working from a home environment in Central Iowa, and working or reporting to the DIAL facility in South Des Moines as necessary.
What You'll Do
Conduct thorough interviews of patients, licensees, and other interested parties utilizing fair and unbiased methods
Collects and preserves investigative material and evidence, including medical records Prepares comprehensive written investigative reports for review by the licensing Board Prepares investigative material for administrative hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings
Collaborates and cooperates with the prosecuting attorney, and provides testimony in hearings and other legal proceedings
Collaborates with other licensing agencies and law enforcement entities as necessary Attends Board meetings and committee meetings to provide Board members with additional information as requested.
Assists with special projects, and any other duties as assigned
Ensures sensitive and confidential information is handled securely.
