Job DescriptionIowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) is recruitingDisability Services Business Engagement Consultantin our Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) Business Engagement Division to be domiciled in Des Moines, IA.Disability Services Business Engagement Consultant will assist Iowa businesses to be both programmatic and physically accessible to IVRS job seekers as well as be a welcoming environment for those with disabilities and be solution focused and have excellent problem-solving skills.The ideal candidate for this role must have exceptional written and oral communication skills and strong presentation skills, along with knowledge of account management, case management documentation and principles of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Rehabilitation Act, and the American with Disabilities Act.Primary Responsibilities:In addition to maintaining a commitment to IWD’s mission, this individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and perform other duties as assigned:

Establish and maintain professional relationships with businesses and community partners to expand employment opportunities for IVRS customers.

Inform businesses about proven and innovative strategies to train and hire qualified workforce utilizing IVRS job ready candidates.

Ensure businesses are aware of rehabilitation technology, job accommodations, and assistance in developing and sustaining a diverse workforce.

Maintain ongoing communication of information with businesses on:

IVRS program and services

IVRS talent pool

Diverse workforce resources

Opportunities to forge solutions to workforce challenges.

Collaborate with IVRS teams, IWD Business Engagement Division, partners, and stakeholders to ensure businesses have access to resources and expertise to create solutions to workforce and business needs.

Work closely with businesses to ensure their job postings, job descriptions, applications, and job interviews are disability friendly and accessible to people with disabilities.

Assist businesses to develop new or modified positions that will utilize the IVRS job candidate’s qualifications.

Provide regular follow up contact to assure customer satisfaction, successful job performance and maintenance of employment to endure everyone needs continue to be met.

Collaborate with Rehabilitation Counselors to provide follow up support to IVRS job candidates.

Provide job and task analysis to businesses to better understand the jobs by completing interviewing and observations. Use this information to identify possible accommodations or modifications of the job.

Complete Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) safety assessments and make recommendations to be in ADA compliant and a disability friendly workplace.

The successful candidate will require knowledge of disabilities and ADA and the interchange of ADA and FMLA to provide guidance to business partners. Understand the programmatic side of ADA to assist businesses to be compliance and disability friendly in policy, applications, job posting, interviewing, forms, and documents, website compliance, social media compliance, presentations, and on-boarding of individuals with disabilities.In the role of Disability Services Business Engagement Consultant, you will need to be a subject matter expert in disability and identify potential barriers that exist due to diagnosis and interpret the possible limitations to employment from those barriers and identify possible accommodations that can be made to overcome or reduce impact on work to perform essential functions of their job.The Disability Services Business Engagement Consultant will:

Identify the difference between an accommodation and modification and articulate those differences to the businesses.

Understand how to write up essential functions of a position and how to identify what functions will not be able to be modified.

Be proficient in Motivational Interviewing technique to identify business needs, barriers, and unconscious bias that may be present in their work culture to identify solutions to move forward.

Utilize counseling skills to identify challenges to move forward to reaching their goals.

Research and utilize evidence to identify barriers and solutions.

Identify legal requirements of businesses versus best practice on ADA and share information to businesses in content that is relevant to the business’s unique needs.

Past ADA experience you can grow and expand on.

Create a network of business relationships when working with new employers and have a positive repour within Iowa businesses as a disability employment resource.

Provide disability and employment resources to businesses and critical partners to establish IWD as a premier employment resource.

Apply knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation program in educating businesses and consumers about potential benefits with businesses engaging in talent, recruitment, hiring, training, retention, and advancement of individuals with disabilities.

Collaborate with Division team to respond effectively to businesses needs and maintain support to businesses in their inquiries and needs. Provide current employment market, hiring trends, and occupational projections.

Understanding federal and state inclusive recruitment and employment strategies.

Develop disability employment presentations and share with business stakeholders in a variety of formats and venues.

Provide information to businesses about ADA, ergonomics, accommodations, rehab technology, resources for job supports and other disability related topics.

Strategically work with IVRS, WIOA partners, and other business partner to maximize IVRS job candidate employment outcome.

Conduct ongoing research about varied projects and innovations in place with IVRS. Support continued monitoring and evaluation of success and failures of innovations to enhance success and improvements.

Actively utilize the Talen Acquisition Portal (TAP) Direct Employers Disability portal to optimize employment opportunities in Iowa.

Work with IVRS teams, service providers, and businesses to identify service delivery opportunities, gaps, to successfully connect and train employment opportunities to customers.

Plan, develop, coordinate, evaluate, and administer IVRS business engagement programs on behalf of IWD.
