Palo Alto - manage and deploy rule sets for the Firewall

On call - yes will need to be on call.

The Network Engineer II will report to the Director of Infrastructure Services within the Engineering & Cloud Services area.

Additionally, this individual will work with a staff of architects, engineers, and service desk personnel and work closely with subject matter experts from technical and business teams to develop and deploy technical solutions in supporting the critical business functions of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Identify and manage IT infrastructure project tasks and related ongoing support

Provide design and software support for our network related infrastructure

Manage vendor activities and verify expenses relating to day-to-day support requirement

Participate on project teams for large IT infrastructure project initiatives

Define and regularly update departmental network documentation and databases

Provide customer liaison role for day-to-day support activities and/or critical network functions

Write business correspondence for recommendations, project support, and customer service purposes

Collaborate with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines

Develop WAN / LAN diagrams and other support documentation

Serve as a technical resource for all assigned project work

Implement and maintain all network and related systems to meet the organization's current and future requirements

Provide daily administration and oversight of the LAN/WAN network and related systems

Manage maintenance, and patching of all networking equipment to include routers, firewalls, load balancers, and other related network software and equipment

Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve network and system problems to include performance issues and related resource allocation

Professionally represent the IT Infrastructure Engineering & Cloud Services team as a technical consultant on projects; maintain, as necessary, documentation of related system builds and modifications

Research, identify, and evaluate new products and services within the IT networking field

Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants

Develop and provide network performance and utilization reports IT leadership

Develop and document corporate policies and procedures as related to network, system, security, and device use

Skills and Abilities

Minimum 3 years' infrastructure support experience.

Minimum 3 years' experience with Cisco route/switch equipment in both enterprise LAN and WAN configurations

Minimum 3 years' experience with firewall deployment and administration such as Palo Alto or similar

Minimum 3 years' experience with Application Delivery Controllers such as F5 or similar

Requirements

- Networking experience

- Palo Alto Firewall experience preferred

- Cisco Networking experience

- Proficiency in Palo Alto Networks

- Foundational knowledge in WANs (Wide Area Network)

- Proven knowledge of Network Load Balancing

- LAN (local area networks) experience

- Well-founded grasp of IT infrastructure libraries

- Skilled in network design and implementation strategies
