Part-Time Parent Educator

Partners in Family Development has an immediate opening in our Parents as Teachers Program for a part-time Parent Educator in Warren County.

Parents as Teachers is an evidence-based parenting education and family engagement model designed to serve families through custom home visits until their child enters kindergarten.

The Parent Educator will conduct home visits with parents with young children throughout Warren County. Hours will vary and will include day, evening, and occasional weekend hours. Regular travel is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct home visits with parents with young children throughout Warren County.

Maintain ongoing knowledge of child and parent development.

Develop respectful and trusting relationships with parents while providing them with information, support, and encouragement.

Demonstrate respect for diverse needs and characteristics of families.

Complete regular documentation in a timely manner.

Plan and facilitate group events.

Represent the Parents as Teachers program at various community events.

Attend regularly-scheduled team meetings and ongoing training opportunities.

Adhere to confidentiality policies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma and two years of previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Computer proficiency with email, internet, and word processing

Ability to learn to use computer-based record keeping

The candidate hired for this position will be required to attend an out of state, five-day training within the first two months of employment. Additional training may involve occasional out-of-state travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, education, social work, or related field

Supervised experience working with young children and their parents in a home visitation setting

Strong working knowledge of child development

Classroom teaching or group facilitation experience
