Operations Supervisor, Gas Measurement and Regulation

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function) The operations supervisor coordinates, plans and schedules crews, equipment and materials needed to complete gas operating, maintenance and construction projects. The operations supervisor coordinates work with customers, other MidAmerican Energy Company departments, other utilities, government agencies, contractors and/or engineers on construction sites. The operations supervisor administers the collective bargaining agreement; ensures compliance with company policies and local, state and federal regulations; handles customer questions and complaints and enforces safety rules and practices. Typical Duties Coordinates, plans and schedules crews, equipment and materials needed to complete gas operating, maintenance and construction projects. (40%) Ensures compliance with all company policies and local, state and federal regulations. (15%) Administers collective bargaining agreement. (15%) Coordinates work with customers, other MidAmerican Energy Company departments, other utilities, government agencies, contractors and/or engineers on construction sites. (10%) Handles customer questions and complaints. (10%) Enforces safety rules and practices. (10%) Develops project plans, provide direction and coordinate project activities associated with operations. Performs supervisory activities, including employee safety, selection and development of employees; employee counseling and motivation and salary administration. Assists in the administration of the department budget and reporting the work performed within the department. Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. " Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the natural gas transmission and distribution system. " Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Six years of related experience, including one year in a senior technical/leadership role. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Personal computer skills, proficiency in e-mail, Word, Excel, GTech, CDb and work management information system. Valid driver's license; subject to department of transportation pipeline drug testing. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
