Description Robert Half Finance & Accounting has a client looking for a Cost Accounting Manager at their Council Bluffs, IA location. This role will be hybrid/remote capable and will be a permanent, full-time salaried position.Main functions of the position:
Responsible for multiple plant locations and their respective cost accounting systems and procedures, product cost estimates, and inventory management accounting and audits.
Oversee direct reports within the accounting department and contribute and lead the month-end close process, accruals, journal entry review and approval, G/L reconciliations, cost allocations for cost centers.
Lead and direct team with the preparation and reporting of year-end close and audit activities.
Create and manage the plant locations' budget process, rolling forecasts, gross productivity analysis and other variance analysis surrounding COGS, labor, overhead, and other cost-related analysis.
Assist with compliance and control initiatives to improve company processes and procedures.
Analyze plant product volumes, activities, and spending levels. Helps drive insight and improvement opportunities over cost structure, efficiency, and rate.
Present financial findings to stakeholders and executive level members on a monthly basis to inform decision making.
Contribute to KPI evaluation and strategize for cost-savings potential in plant operations and reporting activity
Requirements
Requirements/desired qualifications of the position:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Experience with at least 1-2+ years of Standard Costing in a Manufacturing or Production industry environment required
Overall progressive accounting & finance experience of at least 3-5+ years required
Prior supervisory experience highly desired, but not a requirement
Experience working with full-scale ERP systems and costing software applications highly desired
Ability to travel 15%+ to the other plant location(s) across the US required (paid for by company)
Ability to work hybrid/remotely anywhere from 2-4 days a week and lead team and accounting activities from afar
