Kirkwood Community College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II institution and a member of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Assistant Baseball Coach:The Assistant Baseball Coach will assist the head coach in the management and coaching of an NJCAA/ICCAC Division II men’s baseball program. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with operations management (e.g., program development, schedule, camps, marketing, public relations), recruiting (domestic and international), overseeing and planning the development of team systems, conducting individual workouts, and other duties as assigned.

Instruct athletes in how to perform their sport, team concepts, and safety.

Assist head coach with recruiting of athletes.

Understand and comply with all NJCAA and ICCAC rules and regulations.

Maintain required records.

Attend local, state and college meetings that are necessary, or required in order to fulfill job expectations and requirements.

Participate in Athletic Department meetings and fundraising events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Note to Candidate: This position requires frequent travel, work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. Professional references will be required at a later step in the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be subject to a credential and criminal background check and driving record review.

Recreation and Intramural Coordinator:Under limited supervision, the Recreation & Intramural Coordinator will be responsible for the supervision, coordination, development, and promotion of intramural programs. Will also be responsible to assist with supervision of the daily Recreation Center operations and provide supervision of student staff. Contact with college staff, students, retirees and corporate partners is frequent and the individual must possess a strong customer service approach and excellent planning and communication skills. Hours vary from early morning hours to evenings and occasional weekend hours.

Assist with supervision of the recreation center and student employees.

Coordinate the training of student officials in various athletic areas.

Coordinate intramural activities as well as promotion of intramural leagues and events.

Coordinate indoor and outdoor facility usage to accommodate intramural programs as well as space for internal and external groups.

Maintain participation records for intramural programs and other related recreation programs.

Assist in general oversight of the recreation facility including daily cleaning duties.

Assist with Eagle Card operations as needed.

Complete and stay up to date on CPR and other related trainings and classes.

Support the goals of Student Life and Rec Services department and overall mission of the Student Services division.

Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Background as a pitching coach or instructor

Must have flexible hours to meet practice, games, and travel.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

One to two years coaching experience preferred.

Must have a valid Driver’s License.
