The mission of Printing Services is to identify and efficiently provide Iowa State University’s core printing needs, offering services that contribute to the success of Iowa State. Printing Services' strategic vision is to provide appropriate printing services to the Iowa State community at a competitive price, a prompt turnaround time, and at top quality.The successful individual for this position will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including:

Performing accuracy check and billing of both internal (university) and external orders using department print-management system, in conjunction with university financial system.

Preparing accounting reports, such as detailed income and expense reports along with financial analysis and forecasts.

Interpreting data and identifying trends or deviations from standards.

Identifying informational needs of management and revising or refining account structures/data accordingly.

Preparing intricate journal entries, maintaining complex ledgers, preparing detailed cost accounting information, and reconciling/analyzing reports and ledgers.

Deciding proper handling of financial transactions and approving transactions within designated limits.

Maintaining a balanced budget by reconciling income and expenses in all accounts.

Interpreting accounting data, analyzing reports, and recommending action to be taken.

Advising and counseling on complex accounting matters to the department and/or university staff.

Implementing and documenting changes in procedures affecting assigned function.

Monitoring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations.

Reviewing reports for errors or inconsistencies; investigating and correcting the problem.

Keeping informed by researching and training on university and department financial systems.

Communicating with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to financial transactions.

Performing and overseeing audits on printed university checks, in coordination with university Controller's Office, Accounts Payable department and Office of Payroll, Fringe Benefits Accounting and Compliance.

This person will also have responsibility associated with procurement and inventory management including:

Managing material procurement by selecting cost-effective and high-quality materials through our in-house print-management system, in collaboration with the university’s procurement system.

Assisting and occasionally managing Request-For-Price and contract-bidding events for external service and supplies.

Coordinating with external service suppliers to ensure accurate data is maintained and balances are paid appropriately.

Maintaining a database of qualified suppliers.

Maintaining an accurate and efficient virtual supply/material inventory system, in coordination with physical inventory.

Adjusting reorder and on-hand inventory to ensure sufficient and efficient levels.

Monitoring inventory reorder-reports regularly to ensure supplies are available when needed.
