Staff Accountant Details
Essential Job Duties:
Maintains general ledger & reports monthly for all UHS entities.
Prepares and posts monthly general and standard journal entries for all UHS entities.
Assists with timely monthly financial statements and comparative reports.
Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audit.
Assists in the preparation of Federal form 990 reports to file, federal, state, and other regulatory reports (annual tax returns, 990, 1120, etc.) for all UHS entities.
Keeps informed of all government and FASB regulations and procedures affecting Hospital finance and accounting procedures.
Prepares supporting workpapers to substantiate the expense accounts for all UHS entities.
Assists with W-2 adjustments for calendar year end reporting.
Analyzes and interprets data to determine trends and significant variances affecting financial and operational management for all UHS entities.
Reconciles cash accounts.
Reconciles PR withholding amounts to PR liability accounts on the books.
Assists with maintaining established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
Maintains required records, reports, and files.
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc., to keep abreast of the field.
Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university with a degree in accounting is required.
Substantial experience using spread sheets and database management.
