Campuses are 8 miles apart & potential to float to campus 11 miles away. 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible. On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/AWeekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule. Every other holiday.Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.Minimum Experience REQUIRED: 3 years of RN experience, one full year must be cardiac ICU, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience.Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)Patient Population: Cardiac ICU. Universal Beds utilized for post CABG patients during entire stay, patient never changes rooms with changes in acuity. CABG/open heart patients POD 2, carotids, TAVR/value post surgical. Travelers will take lower acuity patients until established on unit. Skillset: Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers are required to take a tele test), PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, initiate/titrate vasoactive, sedative, paralytics, insulin, etc. Balloon pumps/impella/Swans, ETT/ventilator managemnet (RT available), post code/TTM, NIHSS/dysphagia screen.Unit Information (Bed size, Case type, Patient ratio): 24 beds. Ratio: Days 1-2-3; NOCs 1:2-3 (1:3 when taking SD level, ex. 1 ICU patient and 2 Stepdown patients); CN rarely takes patients on days, but takes an assignment on NOC shift.Unit Strengths: Excellent teamwork! Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care
Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
Collects, documents, analyzes, and interprets data and otherinformation from healthcare team members
Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes andthe time frames for expected completion to other members of the hospital healthcare team
Functions as a resource to the health care team members inplanning for patient’s discharge
Documents the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions
Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment
Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifiesdeviation from the plan of care
Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures andprotocols at all times
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
CurrentRegistered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
One year of critical care experience is preferred
Minimum of one year acute or critical care experiencepreferred
Current BLS card; current ACLS/PALS card (per facilityrequirement)
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers,clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English languageis required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
