Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:JOB SUMMARYCoordinates the implementation, integration and maintenance of pharmacy clinical information systems. Responsible for the coordination, support and enhancement of current and future systems. Coordinates the ongoing staff training for each clinical application. Works in partnership with TIS, Physicians, Nurses, and hospital management, making recommendations in the appropriate use of information technology to enhance patient safety and improve clinician efficiency and productivity.JOB DUTIES

Responsible for the administration and review of the activities completed by pharmacy technicians.

Works 2-3 shifts per pay period, at various pharmacy sites, to keep current on actual system behavior.

Reviews medication orders for clarity, safety and correctness. Ensures appropriate drug, dose, route, and timing of needed medications.

Provides independent dosing and information for patient and disease specific drugs. Ensures prompt and accurate computer order entry, preparation, and legal distribution of drugs and other pharmaceuticals to patients, including but not limited to product preparation, repackaging, labeling, stability and delivery, and record keeping.

Responsible for CDM maintenance, application development, interface integration and testing for all pharmacy applications and associated clinical devices (PharmNet,, Pyxis, CareMobile, Logistics, Smart Pumps, and any future pharmacy systems).

Coordinates and oversees the development, daily operations, security and implementation of the pharmacy systems.

Works in conjunction with the Pyxis Coordinator to provide departmental training and communication in all aspects of the systems.

Provides analysis, process redesign recommendations, and support to appropriate project teams.

Monitors daily billing transactions to provide on time and accurate patient charges.

Active as preceptor for the Pharmacy Residency program. Communicates effectively, tactfully, continuously, clearly and positively with the entire scope of customers, visitors, and staff.

Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESEducation: Requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through the completion of the degree of B.S. in Pharmacy, Pharm D with minimum five years hospital experience or successful completion of the foreign pharmacy equivalency exam.Licensure: Current Licensure as a Pharmacist by the State of Indiana.Experience: Proficient in the practice of pharmacy.
