Job Description:The purpose of this position is to oversee and direct the performance of all field construction activities for assigned craft areas in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. This requires a thorough working knowledge and background of assigned work, the ability to cope with complex situations through deliberate analysis and planning, and see actions in terms of longer-term goals. As a significantly experienced superintendent, it requires directing other line supervision as necessary in their roles to meet or exceed all project objectives. This position requires the ability to coordinate and direct construction craftsmen in numerous crafts within the assigned area of responsibility. This position is typically responsible for numerous crafts, multiple areas, and/or large numbers of craftsmen; and often including direct oversight or coordination of other contractors/subcontractors. Plan and direct the work activities of all involved crafts for assigned construction crafts in alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials Approve or authorize the coordination of craft personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules; typically responsible to establish construction crew organization and composition including craftsmen qualification level, foremen and general foremen Directly support project and construction management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for all construction activities Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies Demonstrate and maintain a strong safety culture, safety awareness, and adherence to safe working practices during site execution phase. Provide daily supervisory surveillance checks, ensuring that area construction managers and the GC’s supervision are providing safe working conditions, permit procedures, protective equipment, experienced / qualified supervision, and labor, with reliable, safe, and well-maintained equipment in the execution of the contracted works as per contract schedule and milestones. Understand and lead sequence of work required to support the LP1 project objectives and manage priorities according to project critical path. Lead and communicate the construction requirements to all area Node construction manager’s (CM’s) and the project’s General Contractors (GC’s); ensuring compliance and conformance with the safety, quality plans, project requirements, and schedule within the allotted budget. Build positive relationships with the GCs to enable their success, while still holding them accountable for safety, quality, and performance. Provide guidance to GC’s supervision to ensure site productivity and efficiency resulting in meeting contract milestones. Ensure the hand over sequence is clearly communicated and understood by the area (node) construction managers and the Contractor’s management on a system by system, area by area basis, all scheduled to support logically planned mechanical completions for commissioning and start-up requirements. Lead, support and/or manage interfaces between Lilly and other sub-contract scopes and systems completion as necessary to support successful completion of associated work activities. Support the Construction Director in staffing the Site Execution Team with the correct construction support for the execution needs while also achieving mentoring and coaching.
