The Pulte Institute for Global Development, an integral part of the Keough School of Global Affairs, combines the existing world-class teaching and research faculty of Notre Dame with a dedicated staff of experienced international development professionals, administrators, and researchers in order to address global poverty and inequality through policy, practice, and partnership.The Policy Impact Program Director manages the Pulte Institute for Global Development's outreach to achieve policy impact through global poverty research. The position will work closely with Pulte Institute Division Directors, core affiliated faculty, and program staff to help them move research efforts to policy impact, highlighting both rigorous academic research and global impact of Pulte Institute programs. The position connects three work streams within the Pulte Institute: policy impact, communications, and event planning with the overarching goal that together these three high-level work streams positively impact policy and practice worldwide. Policy impact includes oversight of Policy Impact Specialists who provide research translation and editing of research funded by external funders. Communications includes working with the communications team in the Pulte Institute and the Keough School Dean's Office who create content for the Pulte Institute Website and draft written materials, including articles for the Pulte Website and social media. Event Planning includes working closely with and supporting the Pulte Institute Manager, who oversees Pulte Institute events. The position develops and leads Pulte Institute strategy to achieve policy impact through project management systems, data systems, tracking metrics, and managing internal communications processes within the Pulte Institute. The position has oversight of Pulte Institute deliverables across its policy impact programs. Key to this position is the alignment of the Pulte Institute's overarching strategic research themes, policy focus areas, and Pulte Institute outreach activities.Specific roles and responsibilities include:Policy Impact: Oversees Policy Impact Specialists at the Pulte Institute, who develop and implement policy-oriented outputs from research programs. This includes oversight of the Policy Impact Specialists' work with funding agencies to establish policy and practitioner-oriented products, editing highly academic writing to be more accessible to various audiences, formatting research products, and generating compelling infographics for written materials such as publications, reports, policy briefs, presentations, and promotional materials. Coordinates with the Keough School Dean's Office, so Policy Impact Specialists can help establish a community of practice within the Keough School. Provides support and contributes to writing/editing pieces as needed. The Policy Impact Program Director will also identify avenues for the Pulte Institute to track and identify new opportunities for global poverty research influence with policy makers and practitioners.Management and Strategy: Oversees policy impact strategies, data systems and infrastructure designed to position the Pulte Institute to influence global poverty policy and practice. Develops and manages policy impact outreach budgets, timelines, and objectives. Supervises Pulte Institute staff and works closely with Pulte Institute and Keough School leadership to design strategies to help Pulte Institute research achieve policy impact. Assigns, monitors, and tracks impact metrics for the Pulte Institute to demonstrate policy impact.Communications support: Works with the communications team in the Pulte Institute and the Keough School Dean's Office who write/edit content for Pulte communications materials, including social media and website content, feature stories, and the Pulte Institute annual review. This includes branding to promote the teaching, research, and scholarship of the Pulte Institute and faculty collaborators that communicates the Pulte Institute's research and its impact in the world.Event Support: Works with the Pulte Institute Manager to provide outreach support to Pulte Institute events as needed. Event tasks will focus primarily on managing event invitations, marketing, and announcing events, whereas event logistics will be managed by the Institute Manager who oversees event scheduling and logistics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a related field.this position requires exceptional organizational and communication skillsthe ability to create systems and structures to manage a distributed team engaging with a large Instituteexcellent English writing and editingcreative problem-solving skillsability to produce high-quality material with little directionstrategic leadershipa proactive attitudean outgoing personality is required to effectively engage and manage the interests of diverse stakeholders associated with the Pulte Institute, the Keough School of Global Affairs, and the University Poverty Initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-4 years of experience working with academic researchers and writing for policy audiences.
