We are looking for reliable and skilled Set Crew members to join our team for the construction and assembly of panelized homes. This is a travel-based position, and crew members will play a key role in the field by assisting in the assembly and erection of housing components such as floor systems, wall panels, roof trusses, and roof sheathing. Crew members will work closely with the Project Manager, who will oversee the project and provide necessary guidance and support.
As part of the Set Crew, you will be responsible for completing assigned tasks efficiently and safely on construction sites. You will report directly to the Project Manager, who will ensure you have the proper training, tools, and resources to successfully complete the project. Your role is crucial in ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of each housing project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Component Erection: Assist with the full erection of panelized homes, including setting floor systems, wall panels, roof trusses, and sheathing roofs per field operations guidelines.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other set crew members to ensure seamless assembly of housing components. Follow the instructions provided by the Project Manager and maintain communication to meet project goals.
Field Operations: Travel to various job sites as needed, helping with the delivery, handling, and assembly of materials on-site to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of the project.
Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols while on-site. Participate in safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and help maintain a safe work environment.
Quality Assurance: Help ensure that all work is done according to project specifications and meets quality standards.
Physical Demands: Be prepared to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally), as well as work at heights (up to 40 feet).
Reporting: Regularly report to the Project Manager with updates on work progress, challenges, or any issues encountered on the job site.
Skills and Qualifications
Construction Experience: Must have at least 1-2 years of experience in construction, preferably in panelized housing or residential construction.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working at heights, and operating construction tools and equipment.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of and commitment to construction site safety practices.
Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment, take direction from the Project Manager, and collaborate with other crew members.
Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with the Project Manager and other crew members to ensure efficient operations and resolve issues promptly.
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to job sites, including overnight stays and weekends as required. Hotel accommodations and mileage are covered.
Tools: Must own or have access to the necessary tools to complete the project.
Education and Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Must have experience in construction or panelized housing.
Physical Demands
The role involves physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally, and working from heights up to 40 feet.
Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions, including exposure to outdoor elements and construction site environments.
Travel Requirements
The position requires traveling to different job sites, with approximately 80% of the time spent on the road. This could include overnight travel and weekend work depending on project schedules. Hotel accommodations and mileage are covered.
Projects are booked 8-12 weeks in advance, so the ability to plan and adapt to future schedules is crucial.
Work Environment
The work environment is usually noisy due to construction tools and equipment. Employees should be prepared to work in all weather conditions, as well as physically demanding environments.
Support from the Project Manager
You will receive full support and guidance from the Project Manager throughout the project. The Project Manager will provide necessary instructions and ensure that you have the right equipment and resources to complete tasks on time and to the highest quality standards. They will also be available to assist with troubleshooting, resolving any issues, and ensuring a smooth workflow on the job site.
