Incumbent will develop, implement and maintain quality improvement activities related to plant quality, quality systems, processes, and products to assure compliance with customer and quality-related requirements. The position does not have direct reports but will be involved in, and may lead, projects. They will interface directly with team members across all levels of the organization to assure successful completion of initiatives. They will work closely with internal teams to plan quality events and resolve issues in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers in planning, scheduling, coordinating, and directing quality activities to ensure product conformance to customer requirements and specifications.

Lead the investigation, resolution and prevention of product and process nonconformances.

Track process capability and collaborate with process engineering to improve results and implement continuous improvement projects focused on cost, scrap, rework, and first pass yield.

Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the quality system associated with the manufacturing operation with emphasis on customer specific requirements and IATF-16949 standards.

Collaborate with planning and design staff concerning process design to ensure efficient production methods and the resolution of manufacturing difficulties.

Lead and participate in customer, internal, and external audits.

Provide technical assistance and direction to manufacturing, production, and support staff.

Assist in quality related training and development of appropriate training materials.

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in technical discipline, preferably in mechanical or chemical engineering.

5-8 years quality engineering experience with demonstrated ability to assume increasing responsibility, or equivalent level of experience.

Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate across different functions and levels of the organization, with customers and suppliers, and across cultures.

Considerable working knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality systems and automotive value chain quality requirements including core tools (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, MSA, SPC).

Considerable working knowledge in problem solving (8-D methodology), including effective corrective action and verifications of actions.

Proficiency in application of Lean Principles and Six Sigma methodology.

Effective at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.

Proficient in general business correspondence to internal and external customers.

Broad understanding of the quality systems and processes applicable to the Value Stream.

Ability t schedule and lead process audits.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Considerable knowledge of manufacturing processes, related process controls, capability analysis and inspection and test methods.

Proficiency in advanced product quality planning (APQP) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).

Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate level education in technical or business discipline.

Quality Engineering in supply to Tier 1 automotive manufactures.

Specialty chemicals value chain experience.

In depth experience implementing IATF-16949 quality systems.

Certified Green/Black Belt Six Sigma

Course work in core tools FMEA, PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, MSA, SPC
