The Bilingual Teacher Assistant at KIPP Indy Public Schools plays a crucial role in supporting multilingual learners, assisting with both academic and language development. In collaboration with the Lead Teacher and other staff, this position focuses on delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction in English and Spanish to ensure that all students are able to meet their academic and language goals. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with students in small group and one-on-one settings, providing essential language support, classroom management, and fostering student engagement in both languages. The role also includes partnering with families to ensure clear communication and support for students’ progress. RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities:Instructional Support: Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction to multilingual learners in English and Spanish. Provide small group and one-on-one support for students who need additional assistance to meet academic and language goals.Language Development: Work closely with students to support English language acquisition and development in both the classroom and individual sessions. Reinforce language skills through targeted instructional strategies in Spanish and English.Student Engagement: Help manage classroom routines, engage students in learning activities, and provide ongoing encouragement to support student success and self-confidence in both English and Spanish.Collaborative Planning: Partner with the classroom Teachers, and other staff to monitor student progress, identify areas of growth, and develop instructional strategies tailored to meet students' needs.Classroom Management: Support the creation and maintenance of a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment, ensuring that students are respectful, engaged, and motivated to achieve their academic goals.Communication: Act as a liaison between students, families, and teachers, communicating in Spanish as needed to provide updates on academic progress and social-emotional development.
