Description The Robert Half Healthcare Practice is working with a prominent healthcare practice in the Indianapolis area to find a Medical Scheduler to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare setting and be able to handle a high volume of phone calls and inquiries from patients and staff members. You will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, answering questions, and providing general information about our practice. You will also be responsible for inputting accurate patient information into our system and communicating with our front office and nursing staff.Responsibilities for the position include the following:

Handle all incoming telephone calls from patients and staff members of doctors’ offices.

Schedule patient appointments and answer general questions and inquiries, non-clinical.

Use computer systems to refer to existing patient information/records or to set up new patient appointments.

Communicate same day add-ons, patients that are running late, patients requesting medication refills, on call urgent patients, to our front office and nursing staff members.

Responsible for inputting accurate, up-to-date demographic information into our system for all patients, new or existing.

Directs and transfers telephone calls as requested.

Calls new patient referrals within 24 hours of receiving the referral. This includes contacting referring doctors for additional information on patient or diagnosis should we need this.

Keeping voicemail box cleared out daily.

Responds to call appropriately and effectively, helping to keep phone room answered percentages at an exceptional level.

Performs additional general administrative duties remotely as requested.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a medical office setting

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience with a medical practice management system (a plus)
