About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT): The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation. Role Overview: The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) is seeking a seasoned information technology and business professional to serve as the IT Director responsible for three key teams: IT Director-as-a-Service, Business Relationship Management, and Project Management. IOT has the responsibility for ensuring that all state agencies have the best solutions, delivered at pre-negotiated prices, managed by experienced professionals, in a defined timeline. IOT’s Business Relationship Managers are the conduit for providing improved service delivery, support, and speed-to-market for developing solutions to meet agency missions, and the IT Director-as-a-Service program allows the agency to provide direct, embedded support within mission partners. As a result, IOT helps make the state’s services for Hoosiers more seamless, user-friendly, accessible, and convenient through the establishment of common and reusable digital platforms and solutions. Additionally, the newly reshaped IOT Project Success Team partners with the BRM team so that once projects are approved, they can properly come to fruition. Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $107,302 but may be commensurate with education and job experience. A Day in the Life: Responsibilities include:
Establish current and long-range technology goals following the agency's mission.
Participate or lead discussions in the development of agency policy and planning for the future.
Sets policies and procedures, technical standards and methods, and priorities for information systems activities.
Act as a liaison between information systems and other functions of the agency.
Directly supervise or provide functional direction to Deputy Information Technology Director(s), function manager(s), supervisor(s), and other information technology staff.
Dispense technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures.
Analyze new technologies and make recommendations to agency executives.
Represent the agency’s information technology division at events and meetings that are within and outside of state government.
Participate in the budgeting process with agency executives for the information technology division.
Participate in overall planning for the agency bringing current knowledge and future vision of technology systems as related to the agency’s operations.
Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

Broad knowledge of all information technology disciplines and general business theory.
Thorough knowledge of the organization and management of the state agency’s operations.
Considerable knowledge of the organization and management of state government.
Ability to negotiate complex and large-sum agreements with other agencies, divisions, and outside vendors.
Ability to frame issues based on the policy implications associated with managing what is otherwise a very technical discipline.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
