Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:

The Account Manager supports and assists one or more Controllers in the Division of Finance in the fiscal management of an assigned service line. This includes maintaining the ledger system that provides important financial information to the CFO, Director of Accounting, Assistant Superintendents, and Directors. Your work will reflect the agency’s vision with primary outcomes for the Finance Division and Accounting Section.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are:

Analyze and interpret financial statements and reports including tracking sub-recipient cash management, expenditures, and audits.

Advise the controller about the status of assigned accounts, including tracking and updating ledgers with new financial obligations.

Control fund flow. Prepare paperwork for the Auditor and payments to school corporations as needed.

Prepare revenue reports. Handle grant fund returns. Prepare Reports of Collection.

Assist the controller with budget preparation and reports. Assist managers with preparing area budget requests.

Submit reports and data as required by the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA).

Interact with state and federal auditors.

Assist with developing general policies for a fiscal program.

Complete Personnel Activity Reports and semi-annual certifications in compliance with Federal regulations specific to the funding program.

Review and reconcile the Title I final expenditure reports. Post final figures in ledgers and with the Title I data center.

Ensure direct costs are correct and within allowable amounts.

Ensure local education agencies do not carry over more than the allowed 15 percent.

Verify that local education agencies do not have cash on hand. Post final figures into the ledger and Title I application data center.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or 6 years of experience in state government accounting.

Extensive knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of governmental accounting, budgeting, and auditing.

Extensive knowledge of fund accounting and grant reconciliation.

Extensive knowledge of agency organization and function.

Extensive knowledge of federal and state accounting and bookkeeping laws, policies, and procedures.

Specialized knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Ability to prepare budgets.

Ability to develop effective work relationships.

Ability to prepare and interpret complex financial statements and reports.

Ability to reconcile discrepancies between accounts.

Ability to solve relatively complex accounting and budgeting problems.

Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, Financial Management Circulars, and guidelines specific to the area of funding and/or program(s).
