The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapyservices including treatment, implementation and documentation under thedirection of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s planof care. Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Provides physicaltherapy according to the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapistand in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to stateregulations

Treats individuals to help relieve pain, develops orrestores function, and maintains Amergisum functional mobility and performance

Continues to assess the client’s living environment forbarriers, safety risks and equipment needs

Directs and aids clients in active, passive and resistivetherapeutic exercises, muscle re- education, functional gait and balancetraining, transfer activities, and prosthetic training

Instructs care and use of assistive mobility devices, bracesand prosthetic or orthotic devices

Utilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat,cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage

Cleans and maintains equipment used in the field inaccordance with manufactures directions and per policy

Instructs and educates individual, family, and/or caregiversin the use of and care of therapeutic appliances

Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in conditionto physician and Physical Therapist

Identifies individual and family/caregiver needs for othersupportive services and notifies Physical Therapist

Maintains communication with the company and other personnelcaring for the client to assure that their efforts effectively complement eachother and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care

Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based onthe progress toward goals and responses to treatment

Participates in discharge planning

Provides/submits accurate and timely documentation that isconsistent with the plan of care

Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standards

Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in thestate of practice

Graduate of an accredited school of Physical TherapyAssistant

One (1) year of prior professional Physical TherapyAssistant experience preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
