The majority of time will be spent assisting with back office duties, assisting providers by rooming patients, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs/symptoms, taking weight and temperature as well as completing medical history documentation

Setting up for procedures and assisting providers with procedures, which could include: performing dressing changes, catheterizations, removing castings, removing sutures and staples, breathing treatments, ear washes, assisting with cast application and DME fittings, EKG’s, urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy tests, and other misc. tests as directed by the provider/dependent upon the specialty practice.

Schedules tests, radiology exams, appointments with specialists as requested, enter all information pertaining to check-in/check-out in the EMR. Performs prior authorizations as needed. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required.

Assists provider with office exams and collecting the following: height, weight, BMI and other pertinent misc. information. Updates immunization records.

Phone triage when scheduled- including: patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs to patients, also includes faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed.

Performs walk-in patient duties as needed, which may include: triage, injections, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, collecting history and other information from the patients to be relayed to the provider.

Functions as a resource to visitors, providers and staff- greets everyone promptly and courteously. Communicates clearly and continuously supports the Mission and Values of the organization.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA or CCMA certification.

REQUIRED: Successful completion of/AND graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course (or equivalent experience required).

Medication Reconciliation, POC testing

An upbeat, positive, outgoing attitude and not afraid to "jump in" when needed to ensure consistent patient flow and positive interactions from patients

Strong patient first care and experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years as a CMA

Experience within family practice, Internal Medicine, Pain Management, or Pediatrics

POC testing

Experience with Cerner (or EMR systems in general)
