Salary:The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 per year but may be commensurate with education and/or experience. About the Job: This role maintains a caseload of parolees providing services aimed at successful transition of offenders into the community. In addition to providing services to offenders transitioning back to the community, Parole Agents are responsible for completing offender risk assessments, conducting community based investigations for clemency and parole investigations, apprehending offenders who have violated the conditions of parole holding probably cause hearings, administering UDS tests to offenders and promoting and developing community resources. As with all departmental positions, the safety and security of the facility as well as the general public is the primary focus of this position. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Provides counseling services to offenders transitioning back into the community.
Provides direction and assistance in securing employment, schooling, training and/or housing for offenders leaving the custody of the department.
Meets with the parolee on a regular basis either in the office, at a work site, home or other location.
Monitors parolee’s movement, employment, etc
Conducts community based investigations at the request of the Parole Board to include clemency investigations and parole investigations.
Investigates and reports parole violations to the paroling authority in a manner consistent with department, state law and procedure.
Apprehends or assists in the apprehension of offenders who have violated the conditions of parole supervision.
Schedules and holds parole violation hearings;
Maintains accurate records concerning supervision of offenders, caseload statistics, and community based contacts, etc.
Provides regular reports on assigned caseload.
Conducts or assists in conducting investigations and preliminary revocation hearings.
Transports parole violators back to department facility.

What You'll Need for Success:
Individual in role must have the ability to be weapons certified.
Extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, department policy and procedure concerning the supervision of paroled offenders.
Extensive knowledge of the theory and philosophy concerning corrections, parole and casework supervision.
Working knowledge of the community resources available to aide in a parolee’s transition.
Extensive problem solving ability as it relates to case management.
Ability to develop a plan of action for individual parolees.
Ability to conduct thorough investigations of parolee activities and/or community investigations.
Strong ability to develop and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with all parolees on a caseload, parolees’ families, employers, program providers, local law enforcement, local authorities, department staff, etc.
Working knowledge of changes in law relating to parole supervision.
Ability to prepare a variety of reports both standardized and specialized.
