This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical engineering and forensic investigation techniques related to product liability. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in electrical engineering or a related field, an interest in forensic science, and is generally curious about how products work and how they could fail.We are a leading safety, security and risk-based engineering and consulting firm providing a range of professional services involving life safety, fire protection, security and mass notification on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects for clients worldwide.Responsibilities

Assisting laboratory staff in conducting forensic analysis of electrical systems, components, and devices.

Participating in evidence collection, documentation, and preservation procedures under the supervision of senior forensic engineers.

Performing tests and experiments to evaluate the performance and integrity of electrical equipment involved in forensic investigations.

Utilizing laboratory equipment and software tools to analyze and interpret data obtained from electrical devices and systems.

Documenting experimental procedures, findings, and results in detailed reports and case documentation.

Assisting with administrative tasks such as inventory management, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.

Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge in electrical forensics.

Adhering to quality standards, confidentiality protocols, and chain of custody procedures in all laboratory activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

Strong academic background in electrical engineering principles, circuits, and systems.

Knowledge of forensic investigation techniques, evidence handling procedures, and chain of custody protocols a plus but not required.

Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and circuit simulators.

Proficiency in data analysis tools and software applications used in electrical engineering and forensic analysis (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python).

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting findings.

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment and present technical information clearly and concisely.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work assignments, and meet deadlines in a laboratory environment.

Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of laboratory work.
