Piccoli Dolci is looking for a part/full time pastry sous-chef and/or kitchen manager.
Saturday morning availability (at least every other week) is required.
Piccoli Dolci (“Little Sweets”) is an Italian food business that produces authentic Italian specialties made from scratch. It is our passion to bring Bloomington a taste of Italian regional food cultures and their unique ingredients.
Our repertoire includes:
- Italian pastries (regional cookies, tarts, Italian croissants and desserts, savory pastry)
- Italian lunches: regional specialties with fresh pasta and gnocchi.
We are vendors at the Woolery Farmer’s Market and Bloomington Winter Farmer’s Market, as well as serving Bloomingfoods and a few locally-owned coffee shops in town. We also offer catering services.
We are looking for a person that is a quick learner and efficient worker within a fast-paced work environment and has the prior experience or ability to grow into a leadership role within our kitchen. Our ideal candidate would also be familiar with the European pastry repertoire.
Responsibilities include:
- Executing recipes following provided instructions to guarantee a consistent quality of products
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients and update list of supplies needed
- Guide and motivate assistant bakers while maintaining a positive work environment
- Propose new recipes and identify areas of potential improvement
- Maintain an orderly kitchen according to health department standards
Food handler certificate is a plus.
