Job Overview:This position is a leadership position that will be accountable for the Minnesota Client Accounting department, to provide vision for the department, ensure the accuracy of monthly financials, oversee department processes and procedures, ensuring efficiency, problem resolution, special projects, and analyses, and align the department goals with FirstService Residential company goals.The position requires a coach and leader who will partner and develop the Client Accounting Department. The ideal candidate is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously and with the broader leadership team to achieve the business and financial goals of the company. This position also requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building throughout the company.Your Responsibilities:

Maintain the financial records of FirstService Residential in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Define the three-to-six-month vision to the Accounting Team with a plan to achieve success.

Support internal customers on the day-to-day needs as well as external Board members questions. This may include attending Board meetings from time to time.

Define and enforce key controls over financial statements and financial operations.

Oversee the operations of the Minnesota Client Accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.

Oversee the financial reporting in accordance with company timelines and policies.

Prepare necessary narrative summaries and related presentations for company and department leadership.

Have the financial acumen to understand and apply knowledge to current initiatives and the strategic roadmap of FirstService Residential.

Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, including but not limited to:

Enforcing monthly/quarterly close accountabilities and procedures and maintaining appropriate checklists to ensure departmental compliance

Overseeing the department's execution of detailed financial controls; enforcing processes and controls to ensure transactions are processed timely and accurately.

Implementing new company procedures and policy changes as needed.

Anticipate needs across the company and manage department resources to provide timely and reliable service to internal customers; prioritize and communicate when workload or requests for support exceed departmental capacity.

Support company-wide profitability objectives

Identify and execute upon opportunities to re-engineer and improve accounting and financial reporting processes.

Provide ad hoc analyses and accounting/financial support to business segment management teams in support of financial and operational objectives.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

Proven experience as assistant controller/accounting manager

8-10 years of progressively responsible experience

Excellent time management

Analytical with the ability to investigate and problem solve

High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Experience with Jenark preferred

Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of communication settings and styles

Explain financial reports and procedures to clients and association

Comfortable to attend nighttime board meetings

Physical Requirements:

Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time

Vision and hearing for computer and phone use

Dexterity for keyboard and mouse use

Ability to move up to 30 lbs.
