Process Engineer – Metal Fabrication and Powder Coating

Job Description: A Process Engineer at Jasper Group is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing procedures and equipment in the metal fabrication and powder coating manufacturing process. This role involves a comprehensive approach to enhance quality control, streamline production processes, and contribute to cost management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Control Enhancement:

Evaluate and enhance quality control processes for metal fabrication and powder coating.

Implement measures to ensure product quality meets or exceeds industry standards.

Conduct regular quality audits and collaborate with quality assurance teams.

Work Instruction Development and Training:

Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for various metal fabrication and coating processes.

Conduct training sessions for operators to ensure consistent and high-quality production.

Create visual aids and documentation to support training programs.

Production Process Analysis:

Analyze and optimize production processes, including identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.

Utilize statistical methods to analyze process data and recommend enhancements.

Cost Management:

Monitor and analyze production costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage budgets related to manufacturing processes.

Implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Workflow and Layout Optimization:

Design and optimize workflow layouts to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.

Collaborate with plant layout designers and equipment suppliers for optimal layout design.

Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline workflow.

Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for critical manufacturing equipment.

Recommend and oversee equipment upgrades to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Collaborate with maintenance teams for timely equipment repairs and upgrades.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and standards.

Collaborate with safety officers to conduct regular safety audits and implement necessary improvements.

Develop and implement safety training programs for manufacturing personnel.

Environmental Sustainability:

Evaluate and implement eco-friendly practices in metal fabrication and powder coating processes.

Collaborate with environmental compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulations.

Skills/Competencies:

Technical Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and powder coating processes.

Proficient in using relevant engineering software and tools.

Understanding of metallurgy, coatings, and material science.

Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze complex data sets and draw actionable insights.

Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in manufacturing processes.

Statistical analysis proficiency for data-driven decision-making.

Communication and Collaboration:

Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience in leading and participating in cross-functional teams.

Project Management:

Experience in managing projects related to process improvement and optimization.

Project management certification is a plus.
