The Manager, Cancer Registry reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.The Manager, Cancer Registry leads and manages the cancer registry system-wide. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the daily operations of the system-wide Cancer Registry. The Manager, Cancer Registry will develop and implement a program that supports the strategic plan of the oncology service line, and maintain compliance with departmental, institutional and accrediting organizations, policies, procedures and standards.Responsibilities:Develop an integrated system-wide cancer registry team that supports and advances each hospital’s cancer program and the system’s cancer service line. Collaborate effectively with physicians and leadership at each hospital’s cancer program and across the systemProvide leadership and operational implementation of processes to improve the quality and efficiency of cancer registry operation. Implement and maintain best practices and quality oversight for data collection, management and reporting.   Responsible for complete, accurate, timely case finding, abstracting, and follow-up activities of the Cancer RegistryIdentify and implement key metrics to measure and benchmark performance.Serves as liaison to the Illinois State Central Cancer Registry and ensures that all IL State laws and regulations are met in the reporting of cancer cases; may delegate. Provide oversight for and ensure compliance with regulatory organization and accrediting bodies requirements and compliance with standardsServe as liaison to external accreditors, registries and agencies such as the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (CoC)/National Cancer Database (NCDB) and National Accreditation Program Breast Centers (NAPBC); ensure compliance with all standards in conjunction with the relevant oversight committees; may delegate to team member(s)In collaboration with each hospital’s Cancer Committee and their respective subcommittees, ensure compliance with membership and meeting requirements.  Collaborate with key physicians and hospital personnel to facilitate understanding and compliance with requirementsCoordinates accreditation surveys such as CoC and NAPBCPrepares reports and required documentation for surveyorsOversees completion of accreditation documentation for CoC, including the Eligibility Requirements, Survey Application Record (SAR), Program Application Record (PAR) and NAPBC SAR as required.Interpret regulatory standards and consults with appropriate leadership to ensure complianceParticipate in Cancer Committees and subcommittees in their work to define, measure, evaluate and improve quality and safety of patient care and efficiency and timeliness of operationsAnalyze and disseminate cancer registry data, provide preliminary data analysis, and prepare summaries, reports, survival analyses, and data visualization Ensure computerized data management system is effective, efficient, updated and compliant with required standards Hire and manage staff; ensure compliance with credentialing/certification requirements.  Maintain high levels of staff engagement and performance.  Develop and maintain required policies and procedures including case-finding, abstracting, patient follow-up, and quality assurance.Prepare departmental budget, monitor departmental performance against budget guidelines, and take appropriate action to ensure efficient use of resources.Responsible for additional assignments as appropriate, including collaboration with quality and accreditation programs in related clinical areas.
