The PTC Admin Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.The PCT Admin Tech performs unit-based reception, clerical, and medical record functions. Is customer oriented and able to communicate with all levels of staff, patients and their families. Serves as liaison between patient care units and all other departments. Works under the supervision of the RN/MD in delivering skilled and effective care to the patient in the clinic setting. Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain a steady level of productivity performing decentralized laboratory tests, specimen collection, EKGs and other unit specific skills. Provides basic patient care to non-critically ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit, reinforces teaching previously taught by RN.Responsibilities:Demonstrates I-CARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence) in daily work and interactions.Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patients; answers questions within scope of practice. Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and other customers in a manner that shows genuine caring concern.Demonstrates ability to promptly communicate to the RN any observed changes in patient status and responses, e.g., changes in condition, distress. Clarifies with the RN any special procedures or observations necessary. Communicates patients' progress toward desired outcomes and diagnostic results to RN as appropriate.Prepares medical records for new admissions and disassembles the chart and forwards to Medical Records upon patient discharge. Maintains proper record assembly contents in chronological order.Obtains necessary patient and physician signatures and documents.Accurately transcribes physician orders and clinical data. Enters and verifies orders in the computer to ensure timely and accurate delivery of supplies, equipment and diagnostic/therapeutic tests/services.Reviews open and future orders reports to ensure complete, accurate patient charges.Orders supplies and special equipment using the recommended guidelines.Generates, maintains, and prints forms, records, and tools necessary for patient care.Faxes orders in a timely manner. Dates and times completed orders. Notifies RN of missing MD order requirements (date, time, MD#s)Documentation meets current standards and policies. Documentation includes patient care activities and information is timely, accurate, up to date, complete and legible. Documentation meets current standards and policies. Partners with manager to create a plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up-to-date patient care.Reports on the unit within 5 minutes of official start time. Follows dress code. Does not exceed the recommended amount of absences per CDH policy.Assists with house-wide and department-wide Quality Improvement activities.Demonstrates computer competence for order entry, results, documentation, policies, etc.Manages and operates equipment safety and correctly, cleans equipment according to standards.Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and to function under stressful situations.Answers telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate staff/family/patient.Registers patient in the computer.Performs basic patient care responsibilities, including vital signs, skin care, and personal care, considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.Maintains patient rooms in a clean and neat manner, keeping the patient's environment presentable.Demonstrates support and awareness of daily schedule by expediting on time starts and efficient progression of patients through the physician treatment center.Collects and labels specimens (tissue, urine, stool and sputum)accurately and according to policy. Identifies and transports blood/blood components and specimens using appropriate blood borne pathogen precautions.Follows standard precautions and CDH infection control policies and procedures consistently. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of principles of sterile techniques.Assists, under the direct supervision of a physician with minor procedures, sterile skin preps, and dressing changes.Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Assists in medical/health care error reporting and resolution.Assists with patient admission, orients patient and family to the room, assists patients with ambulation/positioning, prepares patients for discharge/transfer, and transports patients as needed.Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice.Performs phlebotomy according to CDH policy and procedure.Maintains supplies, equipment, and instrumentation. Charges patients appropriately and restocks supplies as needed.Participates in shared governance, committee work, or unit projects.Attends at least 75% of departmental staff meetings annually.Maintains education record and participates in annual competencies.Identifies own strengths and weaknesses, learning needs and goals. Develops a plan to address annual learning needs and goals. Demonstrates participation in continuing education activities.Partners with manager to create a plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up-to-date patient care.
