Quality Assurance Technician

Description:

Responsible for supporting, sampling, testing, record-keeping and maintaining quality standards within the company. This includes coordinating with production and warehouse for inspections and sampling activities to ensure they are effectively performed and in compliance with internal, regulatory, and customer food safety and quality assurance expectations.

Perform regular sampling and testing at all points of production while maintaining documentation in compliance with food safety and hygiene expectations, sampling and inspection, product integrity, customer compliant research for resolution and conformance to policies.

Initiates and manages hold process when supply, finished product or packaging testing does not comply with standards.

Cleans, sanitizes and monitors sanitation practices of production and warehouse areas in compliance with all procedures, policies and practices.

Conducts routine swabbing of the processing environment to support effective implementation of sanitation preventive control.

Supports the effective implementation of the SQF system by identifying and resolving issues within employee responsibilities related to food safety and quality of the product.

Timely and accurately completes testing of products and equipment including monitoring and testing metal detectors to ensure accuracy throughout the shift. Properly documents testing to ensure accurate and complete records and logs.

Proactively communicates and supports team to maintain an environment of coordination and collaboration in all areas of the business.

Actively engages and monitors production personnel to ensure conformance with GMP's and escalates non-compliance immediately so that it can be addressed.

Completes all regular and cyclical activities including calibration activities within the quality control, trace exercises of ingredients, packaging , and finished products, record-keeping including verification and validation, ensuring compliance of quality standards, supporting cross functional teams with GMP, internal and external audits, and other applicable food safety inspections.

Maintain QC documentation including checklists, logs, and reports while reporting and taking necessary action to remediate deficiencies timely and accurately.

Champions safety, quality and sanitation efforts as a visible, present and active member of the quality and food safety team.

Skills & Qualifications:

HS diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in quality or food science

Understanding of quality control standards and methodologies in the food manufacturing industry preferred.

Interpersonal skills - ability to collaborate with a team

Organized, detail-oriented, multi-task

MS Office

Communication skills

Good time management skills

bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required
