Position Summary:

The Patient Transporter provides a high level of customer service and support to inpatient hospital and on campus clinic outpatient departments by performing safe and timely transport of patients and/or specimens to designated destination.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS None specified CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS). Completes certification process within designated time frame and/or retains certification through renewal process every three (3) years. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Individuals must possess the ability to work in a fast paced and physically challenging environment; capable of meeting performance metrics; possess high level of professionalism and customer service; possess effective oral and written communications skills; ability to work on a team supporting patient care operations and transport needs. Physically capable of meeting the demands of moving and transporting patients and walking long distances.

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates ability to safely assist with moving patients onto transport devices and to safely transport patient to designated destination.

Appropriately responds to emergency situations when transporting patients.

Properly uses and stores equipment.

Independently receives dispatch for transport assignments and obtains needed equipment for patient transport.

Completes assignments within designated timeframes and meets department productivity standards regarding the number of transports performed per shift.
