Key Responsibilities

1. Fiber Optic Cable Splicing:

2. Perform both fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.

3. Ensure precise alignment of glass fibers to minimize signal loss and attenuation.

4. Use specialized equipment like splicing machines, cleavers, and optical fiber fusion splicing tools.

5. Testing and Troubleshooting:

6. Test and measure fiber optic signals using tools like optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs), light meters, and power meters.

7. Troubleshoot fiber optic faults and resolve issues like fiber breaks, signal degradation, or improper connections.

8. Installation and Maintenance:

9. Install fiber optic cables in new network setups or perform maintenance on existing systems.

10. Ensure that fiber optic cables are properly routed, secured, and protected from physical damage.

11. Documentation and Reporting:

13. Ensure that systems meet specific performance standards, and document any deviations or issues.

14. Safety and Compliance:

16. Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national standards for network performance and quality.
