Join us.Description:Lead a team of program, project management, and Agile professionals who are assigned to multiple individual programs, projects, or teams. Direct day to day work assignments while coaching, mentoring and helping set priorities. Position requires broad experience in Project Management tools and processes, and ability to: facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, develop / validate network diagrams, lead integration and compression sessions.Job Duties:Direct reports would include Project Coordinators, Program Specialists, Agile Facilitators, and Agile Coaches. Team will be expected to complete complex programs in one or more business sectors and manage programs on time and within budget, while meeting the requirements of the customer. Responsible to coach, mentor, and supervise staff in daily assignments and activities and ensure that professional project management and Agile techniques and tools are used.This level of leader will have had one or more previous team leader assignments. Previous supervisory experience is not required. Position will support a diverse customer base that includes Cat Digital, RI Services, RISM, CISD, Global Rental & Used, and Job Site Solutions that have differing program management requirements.The incumbent’s team will be focusing on multiple programs in this assignment. The Manager role accounts for 75% of this assignment and the incumbent will have a smaller role of providing direct customer support.As a manager, the individual will first be accountable for the oversight of multiple program and project managers (15-18) and the projects or Agile teams they are supporting.Incumbent must be knowledgeable and ensure that all division or department governance processes are followed when necessary (NPI, RBM, S&OP, etc). Additionally, must develop networks and execute a communication strategy to obtain resources and cooperation needed and remove roadblocks so that they can ensure the success of their team. This manager role spends considerable amount of time developing new business partner relationships (ie. New business development) and maintaining customer satisfaction for existing business partners.Key areas of responsibility include: plan and manage the section budget; provide a supportive work environment for the team; hire, mentor, coach, and develop others. Manager is responsible for all personnel issues and completion of the career development processes for the staff.Will manage his/her own development, continuously learning through experience, interpersonal and leadership skills, and understanding the customers’ needs and application of the process, as well as keeping up with technology. Facilitate and lead process improvement initiatives related to project management processes.The manager will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds. Incumbent will work with own team and with contractors, hourly, salaried and management employees, suppliers, customers, and individuals working in many Caterpillar organizations. Acknowledging and raising awareness of trade-offs between time, resources, and quality, and raising the customers’ and management’s awareness of those trade-offs is essential. Understanding and defining benefits of project or program to the customer is crucial.Skill DescriptorsBudgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget. Work with budget coordinator to manage section budget. Monthly track actuals against budget and be able to explain any variances that exist. Manage section expenses to planManaging Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Clarifies and handles multiple concurrent and diverse activities. Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities. Addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments for self and team members Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary.Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team. Involves key stakeholders in upfront planning efforts. Enlists formal and informal network contacts to improve collaboration among teams Coaches others on best methods for performing teamwork across organizational boundaries.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university8-12 years of project management experienceAt least 1 year of previous team lead experienceTop Candidates Will Also Have:Extensive experience in portfolio, program, and large project managementExcellent human relation skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.Good business acumen as demonstrated by knowledge of business planning processes and/or project cost management experience.Proficient in project management tools, such as Microsoft ProjectProficient with all Microsoft O365 software including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and TeamsProject Management Professional (PMP) certificationAdditional Information:The location for this position is Peoria, IL (Building LC).Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
