Job Title: Field EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Field Engineer to join our team for a utility scale wind farm project. This role involves overseeing electrical construction activities, ensuring safety compliance, quality assurance, and managing materials and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.Responsibilities
Ensure safe operations of the job site and proper use of PPE by all personnel.
Assist superintendents and foremen with planning, organizing, and scheduling construction activities.
Monitor and report on project schedules, including three-week look-ahead schedules.
Visually inspect all aspects of construction to ensure compliance with the scope of work.
Administer the QA/QC program, complete and submit QA/QC documentation, and maintain accurate logs.
Assist with project cost control, including tracking logs, noting discrepancies, and preparing change orders.
Monitor the project material tracker, inspect deliveries for contract compliance, and manage requisitions.
Oversee subcontractor work, review their scope and schedule, and communicate progress to owner’s representatives.
Track and submit credit card receipts, time cards, and per diem reports to the appropriate departments weekly.
Prepare and send new employee hire packets, ensure compliance with hiring tasks, and provide training and orientation to new hires.
Complete all required job site QA/QC paperwork, including daily budget reports and various logs.
Communicate effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, office staff, engineering staff, consultants, and owner’s representatives.
Attend project meetings and drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to job sites.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Procore, construction management, and project management.
Experience with commercial construction, inspection, and blueprint reading.
Knowledge of electrical construction processes.
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, or equivalent education and experience.
Prior construction experience, including internships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work in various weather conditions ranging from hot and muggy to extreme cold and rain.
Willingness to travel up to 100% and live out of hotels, travel trailers, or temporary lodging for most of the year.
Willingness to work approximately 70 hours per week, 6 days per week during the construction season.
Work EnvironmentThis is a 100% outdoor position, requiring the individual to be on the job site for the duration of the project. The work environment involves lengthy stays in rural areas with limited amenities, and may require accommodations in hotels, motels, campers, or apartments.
