You must love to solve problems using pragmatic industry standards and be able to think on your feet to deliver creative solutions. You must be able to understand how software runs from the barebones hardware up through the application server platform or docker ecosystem. Understanding observability of the Alight Platform is a must to help pinpoint and troubleshoot areas of the large distributed system. Toil and mundane business as usual tasks are the enemy of this role, you will want to eliminate this at all costs by implementing automation (scripted or otherwise) and simplify/streamline processes. While the role stays constant each day you will be able to showcase your skills to help build a scalable reliable platforms and solutions for our customers.What You’ll Do:

Works closely with infrastructure and production support groups to plan and implement system enhancements and upgrades to/for cloud hosted (AWS & Azure) platforms.

Demonstrates solid problem-solving techniques across multiple areas of technology and operational models

Ensure application performance is optimal and reliable by identifying blind spots and structural weaknesses in infrastructure and systems

In the event of an incident, you will facilitate service restoration calls to assess application impact, notify the business, and restore system issues followed by documenting issue summary, provide root cause analysis, and implement remediation actions.

Script and automate configuration (leveraging tools and platforms like Terraform, Ansible, shell script, PowerShell, Python, etc.) for the application to support requirements and design.

Partner closely working with the development teams throughout the life of a project to ensure operational excellence and reliability

Recommend and influence deployment patterns and changes to CI/CD pipelines

Curate (develop & enhance) real-time actionable alerts

Influence solution design and implementation to ensure platform reliability

Reduce noise and toil in the platform through automation

Implement and administer proper scaling techniques of infrastructure and application solutions

Troubleshoot and investigate our distributed platform to optimize scale

Administer Cloud based (AWS & Azure) infrastructure (Terraform, Ansible, Console) and operational support of/for multiple technologies across multiple environment lifecycles.

Contribute to the evaluation of products, technologies and how to operationalize systems

Maintain personal expertise in a broad range technologies, tooling, support processes and best practices IT Operations support delivery

Manage multiple simultaneous projects/tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Work closely with infrastructure and production support groups to develop, plan, and implement system enhancements and upgrades.

Consistently demonstrate solid issue triage and problem-solving techniques across multiple areas of technology and operational models. Resolves issues with wide impacts. Coaches others to build problem-solving skills.

Facilitate technology service restoration calls assessing impact, business notifications and root cause. Resource will be held responsible to document issue summary, provide root cause analysis and implement remediation actions.

Produce solid technical documentation. Seek and incorporate feedback from multiple sources when and where appropriate. Coach others in the creation of technical documentation.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to manage various forms of interaction with other technology teams, client teams and sometimes clients. Must be able to handle stressful and complex scenarios with careful, decisive and effective actions.

Work to understand true root cause of issues and implement permanent solutions to avoid reoccurrence.

Look for ways to continually improve on existing processes through innovative solutions and automation.

Evaluate the common issues faced by operations team and client teams and suggest solutions for continual improvement

Participate in the on-call roles (primary & secondary) supporting technology services owned by the team.

Work closely with business and IT resources (internal and external) to effectively plan, deploy, document, and maintain the environments’ additions and changes.

Maintain relationships with internal distributed IT and outside Level 2 and 3 escalation points.

Initiate and participate in timely communications to all stakeholders as necessary during release, incident and problem processes

What you’ll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent

3-5 years of Experience working with Unix/Linux and MS Windows Server applications environments.

Experience working with a standard development process (SDLC, ITIL)

Experience in cloud platform administration

AWS (mandatory)

Azure

Experience writing automation scripts with tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
