Job DescriptionThe Senior Research Engineer- Electronics and Software will report to the Technology Research Manager within the company Innovation Center (IC). This individual will scope, consult business leadership, and execute key research projects, across a broad range of topics including electronics and embedded software. The position will include performing market and technology research on business topics of interest within and outside of the electronics and software domains. This position will also function as the Innovation Center domain expert on electronics and software, requiring business support on electronics and software across the full product development lifecycle.The position will require working out of the Glenview, IL Innovation Center with occasional travel to business locations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Create Innovation Center Market and Technology research reports and present to key stakeholders by distilling complexity to key actionable insights and providing data driven recommendations
- Support business growth projects with software project leadership and consulting by scoping projects with key stakeholders and developing and managing project timelines
- Provide consultation on electronics and software development practices with experience across all phases of the Electronics and Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC)
- Review of requirements, architectures, designs, implementations, test and validation plans for completeness, accuracy, complexity, and maintainability
- Work with business project management to resolve critical software issues whether product or process
- B.A./B.S. or advanced degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
- 5+ years of experience, electronics, or software development
- Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Experience with Market analysis and segmentation
- Experience with detailed technical research investigations or trade studies
- Experience in electronica and embedded software development in a technical leadership capacity
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise manner across all organizational levels in both written and oral forms
- 5+ years development experience using traditional and Agile methodologies
- Experience with C/C++/Python
- Experience with white and black box testing and exposure to automated regression testing environments
- Working knowledge of Machine Learning
- Domain experience with IIoT communication and security protocols
