VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital is adding talented Veterinary Technicians to our Emergency & Critical Care Service overnight/3rd shift.Our Story and Our Team:We offer a wide array of services, including specialty services in Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Rehabilitation, and Surgery. While our facility is equipped with high-tech equipment, our team’s cross-departmental cooperation in treating patients separates Arboretum View from other hospitals. Our team highly values collaboration between departments to better serve patients. Our experienced associates recognize each other's strengths and work together throughout the treatment process. We uplift our technicians to exercise their critical thinking skills and work independently towards enhancing patient care.Snapshot of the Role:As a member of the VCA AVAH team, you will support Emergency/CC doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Performing triage assessments and prioritizing cases as they present

Manage the ER by assigning clinicians to cases as they present and coordinate timely interventions as needed

Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.

Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of their pets and home care

Placing intravenous catheters, performing laboratory diagnostics

Performing abdominal and thoracic radiographs

Assisting with examinations

Inducing, maintaining, and monitoring anesthesia for ER procedures

Recovering patients from anesthesia

Performing nursing care of all patients presenting to the ER

Run diagnostics and correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify clinicians with results.

Assisting the ER clinicians with providing instruction and demonstration of emergency medicine skills to veterinary students, interns, and residents in a clinical setting.

Assist students with accomplishing the necessary student learning objectives

Develop professional relationships with the CSR team to aid in providing outstanding customer service to all ER clients

Enter charges for all triage patients and document treatment sheets

Assist in providing clinical support to doctors and other technicians/nurses

Provide restraint of patients without risk to patient, self, and others.

Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.

Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients based on attention to detail

Utilize monitoring equipment and recognize trends

Assist with clinical procedures and offer direction to others.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Participates in CE for the purpose of personal development and development of a critical care mindset

Foster effective communication with both internal and external clients and referring hospitals.

Schedule: Full-time opportunities, Overnight/3rd shift, we offer 5 x 8s, 4 x10s or 3 x 13s schedule.Compensation: Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field.
