Employee Resources Generalist (Champaign)

Objective/Summary:

The Employee Resource Generalist will be responsible for daily functions in the Employee Resource (ER) department, supporting Regional Managers, including talent acquisition, performance, worker’s compensation, compliance and enforcement of company policies and practices.

Essential Functions:

Talent:

Coordinate with hiring supervisors to identify staffing needs, write and post job advertisements using company HCMS, external university and technical school job boards and social media platforms.

Develop a strong talent pool through creative sourcing techniques including referral generation, networking and direct sourcing.

Interview and facilitate the hiring and onboarding of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Performance:

Under the direction of the department manager, work with supervisors to draft, track and file employee disciplinary action and coaching notices. Follows up with supervisors to ensure forms are signed, on disciplinary tracking spreadsheet and personnel files are updated in a timely manner.

Worker’s Compensation:

In collaboration with Safety/Sanitation Chef and Insurance provider, monitor all workers’ compensation case files; follows-up on open cases, tracks claim status and acts as primary point of contact for employees, managers and insurance representative.

Compliance:

Oversee and ensure compliance in employment and regulatory requirements including but not limited to: USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, FMLA, COBRA, EEOC, etc.

Coordinate and ensure compliance with the company workplace investigation policy. Conducts interviews, compiles evidence and drafts summary of findings.

Other Functions:

May be required to represent College Fresh at recruiting fairs, trade shows, conferences and other culinary industry events in efforts to establish, develop and maintain relationships with program directors and community workforce development programs.

Act as the primary back-up for other Regional Generalists when absent (processing background checks, integration of new hire tasks, performance management etc.)

Conduct phone interviews for all Chef and other kitchen positions for assigned region.

Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems.

Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, trainings and seminars.

Work Environment:

This position is based at the Corporate Office and functions in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and customer-service focused environment.

The position requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. This position works primarily daytime hours, Monday through Friday; however, some evenings and weekends may be required during peak periods.

Travel:

10% travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.

Working knowledge of computers and relevant software application as it relates to the human resource function (i.e. Microsoft Office, HRIS, HCM and applicant tracking software etc.)

Ability to write ads/job postings to attract candidates based on position and location.

Strong in Excel to prepare and submit reports for HR Metrics.

Preferred Education and Experience:

2 years in a professional level Human Resources role to demonstrate knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Industry certification (i.e. SHRM- CP, PHR etc.)

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information without breech for both personnel and corporate matters.

Must adhere to policies and procedures set forth in College Fresh employee handbook.
