Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.Role DefinitionCaterpillar’s Drivetrain Product Team is seeking an experienced problem solver preferably with Drivetrain product experience to be responsible for supporting Drivetrain’s Zero-Defect Culture within the manufacturing facility. They will act as the liaison between Drivetrain and Operations while proactively driving quality improvement projects on the shop floor. Responsibilities include all drivetrain product designs and components involving quality issues that are impacting Drivetrain’s Zero-Defect Culture within the Decatur manufacturing facility.Successful candidate will act as the liaison between Drivetrain Engineering and Decatur Quality/Operations to ensure quality manufacturing/build operations and serve as a Quality lead for the Decatur Drivetrain Product Team. This includes proactively leading quality improvement projects, Decatur Obeya, and Semi-Certified Builds that support Drivetrain’s Zero-Defect Culture. A sense of urgency, and extreme customer focus, is vital to be successful in this role. This lead is expected to be a strong change agent that has passion for continuous improvement and develops solutions that drive increased customer value.Responsibilities

Work closely with Operations, Operations Quality, Engineering, and Drivetrain Quality teams.

Lead/Participate in Semi-Certified Builds, Build Audits, Quality Shop Walks and Go, See, Acts

Lead Drivetrain Quality Project A3’s based on facility quality data analysis deep dives to drive warranty and DPU improvements

Lead/Participate in monthly DT Ops Quality Reviews, report metrics, share best practices, etc…

Participate in incoming quality inspections.

PPAP/Re-PPAP reviews for NPI or ongoing supplier certification.

Review Standard Work and identify opportunities for improvement.

Work with Operations to lead a regular cadence of audits.

Support EOL testing and data collection.

Act as liaison for EOL test specifications/correlation to support prime product facility needs.

Align with Product Support on Dealer pre-delivery results/issues to support design and assembly improvements.

Provide regular cadence of communication between Operations and Drivetrain. Actively share Drivetrain health metrics and provide Operations with feedback from the field.

Support deviation requests. Review historical requests to recommend engineering changes.

Support CPI projects.

Participate in Planned Method Audits and Cleanliness Reviews as needed

Capture assembly concerns to review potential improvements with Operations and Engineering.

Standardize on AQE type system to manage quality events, resolution, and communication.

Support quality alerts and APQP activities.

Work with Operations and Engineering to develop appropriate IPVs.

Support change control and parts disposition.

Help to drive alignment/consistency in Quality processes throughout Drivetrain facilities.
