According to the current regulations, a CDL driver must complete the Return-to-Duty (RTD) to avoid having their CDL license downgraded or canceled, as this is when the FMCSA's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse will begin automatically removing commercial driving privileges for drivers with a "prohibited" status.
