Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance II - Mechanical Systems position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems and other special projects as assigned. They shall complete their assignments to the best of their abilities, offer suggestions to improve job efficiencies and quality, always keeping the best interest of the District and fellow employees in mind.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Based on project requirements, may instruct part-time or full-time maintenance staff as assigned. Will work in a cooperative manner with the managers and technicians of facilities as well as the Facilities and Parks Maintenance Departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Functions
o Skilled HVAC work installing, maintaining and repairing facilities and park mechanical systems and components.
o Experience in Boiler Maintenance and pump repairs.
Facilities/Parks
o Repair and painting of all facilities and equipment.
o Set up and maintain aquatic areas and activities, including pools, beaches and boating facility.
o Assist in the outdoor and indoor pool start up and closing procedures, including filter Media changes.
o Make recommendations for energy management programs for facilities.
Marginal Functions
o Maintain all equipment and hand tools used.
o Attend seminars and workshops to provide for professional growth
o Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or a minimum four-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses
American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification
Valid Driver’s License
EPA Refrigerant License
Certified Pool Operator Certification preferred

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
