JOB SUMMARY / RESPOSIBILIES:
Metal Slitter Operator will receive metal coil, cut the metal coil to the measurement required and distribute it between the Grid Dept. and Metal Ceiling Dept.
JOB PURPOSE & SCOPE:
The Metal Slitter Operator is responsible for all aspects of setup, operation and quality control the slitter machine in the Chicago Plant. They will be expected to setup knives/spacers, over and under arms, operate overhead crane, slit aluminum and steel, and perform quality checks in accordance with standard procedures and expectations.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Group and prioritize slitting orders to maximize efficiency and throughput
Keep Grid and Metal Ceilings stocked with slit coils to support production needs
Complete 6S tasks throughout the slitter area
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB CONTENT:
Operate the slitter to support both Grid, Metal Ceilings, and engineering needs:
o Operate Forklift in accordance with Plant rules
o Using the crane to unload trucks and load coils onto the slitter
o Perform setups for knives and over/under arms accurately and in a timely fashion
o Perform QC checks on all in coming full coils, and slit coils
o Emptying slitter scrap containers
o Safely unload coils from slitter onto skids or racks
Help in other areas of the plant if the slitter is down for repair or not scheduled to run.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires the ability to self-manage time, prioritize orders, and pay close attention to detail.
The position requires the employee to lift and move coils with an overhead crane. The candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be on their feet for 8 hours straight.
At Least 1-2 years experiences in a factory setting, operating slitter machinery.
SAP experience preferred
Ability to be forklift certified
Remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time
Physical Fit: Stand, reach, scoop and lift up to 50-plus pounds
Basic math skills and read measurements or tape ruler
Know how to count and record information on the work order
Understand written instructions as well as verbal
Maintain a professional attitude at all times
