Artist is seeking a part-time studio assistant to help out with the demands of the art show season. This gig can either be for the Spring-Summer months (through September), or longer.
SCHEDULE: one day per week on Wednesdays (with some flexibility - certain Wednesdays can be swapped for other days of the week).
Duties include:
-preparing, packing and organizing prints
-mounting artwork on matboards and panels
-adding decorative torn edge to art on paper, with the help of studio tools
-some framing and canvas varnishing (with odorless water-based varnish)
-keeping track of supplies and inventory
-general assistance with other small studio tasks and organization
-occasional basic editing of artwork photos
No customer service duties, this is a home studio space.
Previous experience is not necessary - you will be trained on all of the above.
Requirements - ideal candidate for this type of work must:
-Be dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
-Be very comfortable with using scissors and hands to cut / manipulate paper and canvas
-Be able to visually assess with ease if artwork is centered and lined up, or off-center / crooked
-Enjoy calm, small art studio environment
-Enjoy performing repetitive tasks
-Be located within easy commuting distance (this workspace is in West Ridge (a.k.a. West Rogers Park) neighborhood - near Pratt and Rockwell)
