Our legal team is looking for a qualified local attorney in Cook County, Illinois, to provide local support for several business disputes currently being contested in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. This role is perfect for an attorney who is well-versed in local court procedures and is looking for a supportive, rather than lead, role in ongoing litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Act as local counsel for out-of-state legal team, providing support and local presence as needed.
- Assist with logistical support in the Chancery Court, including handling filings, ensuring compliance with local rules, and managing document deliveries.
- Attend hearings and court proceedings to represent our interests as necessary, providing concise updates and feedback to the primary legal team.
- Offer insights into local judicial procedures and advice on strategic decisions from a local perspective.
- Facilitate effective communication between our primary legal team and local entities, including the court and opposing counsel as required.
Requirements:
- JD from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
- Prior experience in business litigation, with specific knowledge of Cook County Chancery Court procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and a professional demeanor.
- Strong communication skills, capable of providing clear and effective updates.
- Ability to work on an as-needed basis, with flexibility to attend court when required.
