The Roselle Public Library is looking for a full-time Facilities Coordinator who is responsible for a wide range of maintenance and facilities functions that ensure the library building, systems, property, and grounds are maintained in safe operating condition, and for optimal appearance and use by patrons and staff. We offer the unique opportunity to join our team while we are planning the design of a brand-new facility at a nearby location, anticipated to break ground next Spring. Our ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously; someone who can maintain our current library as well as collaborate with management on the planning of our future facility.
Essential Functions
Perform building and system inspections regularly. Anticipate and recommend maintenance services, procedures, products, and equipment needs for preventative measures;
Maintains onsite climate control of the building and works closely with our preventative and maintenance controls service provider;
Monitor and maintains facility grounds daily and respond or ensure resolution of urgent problems, cleaning tasks, and equipment failures reporting issues to manager or the Person-in-Charge;
Responds to facility maintenance tickets requested by staff or departments in a timely manner and manages open tickets;
Provides set-up and tear-down for meetings and programs, inspecting tables, chairs, and carpeting between uses;
Set and maintains scheduling of facility inspections and preventative and maintenance visits throughout the year
Required Skills and Abilities
Good understanding of HVAC system programming and applications; electric, plumbing, and mechanical systems;
Dexterity for janitorial and maintenance tasks including using custodial equipment such as cleaning materials, solvents and chemicals as well as knowledge of safely and properly use of manual and power tools, and other related equipment and supplies commonly used inbuilding maintenance;
Effective decision making and communications skills, verbally and in writing;
Ability to respond to emergency calls at night and on the weekends; and
Good grasp of commonly used office software and applications, including Microsoft Office365 and Teams, and general office and Library equipment.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required, with a relevant Associate’s degree or trade certification preferred
Three (3) years related experience in building and facilities maintenance or relevant trade(s)
Valid Illinois Driver’s License with access to a safely operating vehicle and proof of automobile insurance for occasional local travel
Knowledge of or experience with geothermal heating and cooling systems is a plus
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking, some standing and sitting
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and transport up to 200 pounds with proper equipment
Bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine manipulation skills
Hours
This is a full-time, non-exempt position for 37.5 hours per week. A typical schedule is anticipated to be Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, with some flexibility to adapt the schedule for inspections, projects, large program or event set up and tear down as needed. The schedule will operate on a weekly basis, with occasional evenings and/or weekend hours.
