Belmont/Harlem Surgery Center is currently seeking a PRN certified surgical technician.

BHSC is conveniently located in a high profile Chicago Metropolitan Area.

Our multi-specialty ambulatory surgical center is a Joint Commission accredited facility which proudly offers a committed and highly skilled service to patients, as well as employees.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday with variable hours.

Summary:

The Operating Room (OR) Technician is responsible for direct and indirect assistance to the surgeon and performs a variety of duties to assist the surgical team in care of surgical patients during the immediate preoperative, and intra-operative phase.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with other members of the health care team to resolve patient care problems, enhance care delivery, and conduct process improvement.

Assists in the preparation for surgical case assuring that supplies, equipment, and instruments are available and in working order prior to the start of each case.

Performs scrub duties in the operation room.

Aids the surgical team in the transport, transfer, and positioning of patients in the operating room.

Supports maintenance, care, cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and inventory of instruments, equipment, and supplies as directed.

Reports to charge nurses regarding assignments, breaks, and lunch.

Helps in the orientation of new personnel to the operating room suite.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma and Graduate of accredited program of surgical technology.

One to three years of experience and on the job training accepted in lieu of education.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

License by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations.

CPR certification required

Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
