Job Overview:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ventilation Nurse to join our healthcare team. The Ventilation Nurse will be responsible for providing specialized care to patients requiring mechanical ventilation. This role requires expertise in managing ventilator settings, assessing patient response to ventilation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Ventilator Management: Monitor and adjust mechanical ventilator settings according to patient condition and physician orders. Ensure proper functioning of ventilator equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients requiring mechanical ventilation, including respiratory status, vital signs, and overall clinical condition. Continuously evaluate patient response to ventilation and implement appropriate interventions as needed.

Collaborative Care: Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for ventilated patients. Participate in rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and care conferences to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.

Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families regarding mechanical ventilation, including equipment operation, potential complications, and strategies for promoting respiratory health. Ensure patients and caregivers are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful transition to home care, if applicable.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding changes in patient status, treatment plans, and discharge planning.

Qualifications:

Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in critical care or intensive care settings

Advanced knowledge of mechanical ventilation principles, modes, and equipment

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment
